The Government of Buenos Aires presents a bill to regularize tax debts until 2024, with payment options and interest forgiveness.

New Law in Buenos Aires for Debt Regularization

The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has presented a draft law to the Port Legislative Assembly for the regularization of tax debts such as Property/ABL, Vehicle Tax, Stamps, Gross Income, Advertising, and other overdue taxes until December 31, 2024. The project includes the possibility of paying in full or establishing a payment plan of up to 48 installments, with total or partial cancellation of penalty and compensatory interest.

According to the proposal, the deadline to adhere to this regularization plan will be 90 days from the promulgation of the law. The head of government, Jorge Macri, stated that this measure adds to the set of actions recently announced to alleviate the tax burden on residents of the City, providing an opportunity for those who could not meet their tax obligations due to the economic crisis to regularize their situation.

Regarding debts in tax enforcement, taxpayers will be able to join the regularization plan, suspending the deadlines for ongoing judicial processes. If the debt is fully paid, either immediately or through a payment plan, the criminal action will be extinguished.

Additionally, a special proposal is included for Collection Agents, allowing them to settle regularized debts from withholdings or uncollected perceptions up to December 31, 2024, in a maximum of six installments.
